DiTucci adds five student-athletes to Chippewa roster. . .March 9, 2004MOUNT PLEASANT - Interim head coach Tony DiTucci has announced the addition of five incoming student-athletes to the Central Michigan University women's soccer team. The five new faces are Kelly Dougherty (Clarkston/Clarkston), Erin Douglas (Guelph, Ontario/Centennial C.V.I.), Meredith Evans (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Central), Laura Gaesser (Kendall, N.Y./Kendall HS), and Grace Gorton (Mount Pleasant/Mount Pleasant). Gaesser (pronounced GAYZER) lettered all four year at Kendall High School as a forward. However, she is versatile and could also play at midfield or defense for CMU. She is a highly decorated player, having been named the Greater Rochester "Player of the Year," first team all-state, Genessee Region "Player of the Year" and Section V Class CC Offensive MVP. Gaesser holds the school record for career goals (120) and goals in a season (48). She played for the New York State West Olympic Development team the last two years and club for the Rochester Junior Rhinos. DiTucci's and Gaesser's paths have crossed once before. DiTucci coached Gaesser's Rochester Junior Rhinos U-14 team in the spring and summer of 2001. "Laura is a well-rounded, athletic soccer player who has a nose for the goal." DiTucci said. "She has a solid understanding of the game and that makes her extremely versatile. Laura can play many different roles, depending on where we might need her on the field."
